(Bloomberg) -- Thomson Corp. Chairman David Thomson, Canada's richest man, emerged from his father's shadow with the proposed purchase of Reuters Group Plc for $17.2 billion, the biggest takeover ever by a Canadian company.
David Thomson sealed a bid to buy Reuters less than a year after father Kenneth Thomson died in his Toronto office, leaving his son to manage the world's 10th-largest family fortune.
