Canadian Dollar Rises to a 30-Year High as Economic Growth Accelerates

(Bloomberg) -- The Canadian dollar strengthened
to a 30-year high after the central bank said it may raise
borrowing costs in the ``near term'' and economic growth
accelerated at the fastest pace in almost two years.

The currency climbed 1.9 percent this week to 94.28
U.S. cents. It touched 94.35 U.S. cents yesterday, the
highest level since July 19, 1977. One U.S. dollar buys
C$1.0609.
